Adele takes the country music business by storm.
Just like his label mate Columbia Records Lil nas x did in 2019 with “Old Town Road”, the British vocal powerhouse hit the country music charts with a superstar collaboration.
“Easy On Me” (with Chris Stapleton) debuted at No. 25 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart as of November 27.
The electric piano ballad, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts for four consecutive weeks, is – according to the outlet – “an unprecedented chart record” with 5.4 million audience impressions.
Released on November 19, the collaborative version can only be heard on country music radio stations and via the deluxe version of Adele’s new album, “25,” which is only available from Target. To date, no streaming platform has access to the song.
Other bonus tracks exclusively available through the deluxe disc include “Wild Wild West” and “Can’t Be Together”.
The Oscar and Grammy Award winner called Stapleton a “dream duo partner” during an appearance for Vogue’s popular “73 Questions”.
But the country musician isn’t the only artist who has stepped up to record a hit song by Adele.
Months after he became No. 1, winner of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony John legend uploaded a catchy a capella rendition of Adele’s thumper, “Rolling in the Deep”, in 2011.
Queen of soul Aretha franklin also recorded the song for his daringly ambitious 2014 opus “Divas Classics”.
In 2016, R&B crooner Joe brought new depth and dimension to Adele’s ubiquitous 2015 track “Hello.”
But Stapleton, a five-time Grammy Award winner with four albums to his name, was the only artist to receive the duet treatment.
Earlier in her recording career, Adele covered Stapleton and the SteelDrivers single “If It Hadn’t Been For Love” for bonus releases on her 2011 album “21”.
“Basically, I was a fan of [Stapleton] since the days of SteelDriver, ”she recently told Rolling Stone. “I have been covering SteelDrivers for almost 12 years now. It’s just… his voice is just awesome.
Its first time on the country broadcast charts marks its 17th overall appearance on the Billboard broadcast charts.
Over the years, Adele has crossed a myriad of genres with her music performed in multiple formats including Adult Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop, Adult R&B, Dance / Mix Show, Latin Pop R & B / Hip-Hop, Smooth Jazz Airplay. and Tropical Airplay.
According to Billboard, she corresponds Mariah carey with visits to no less than 17 Billboard airplay charts since 1990.
“Easy on Me” was ranked as the most played song in American radio history.
