Classical music delights the audience of Chhayanaut

Renowned artists and the younger generation entertained audiences at a two-day classical music festival titled Shuddha Sangeet Utsab 1428 which was held at the Chhayanaut Sangskriti Bhaban auditorium in the capital on Thursday and Friday.

Chhayanaut has been organizing Shuddha Sangeet Utsab since 2007. This year’s festival was dedicated to two teachers from Chhayanaut, namely Madan Gopal Das and Satindranath Halder.

Ekushey Padak award-winning singer and Chhayanaut vice president Khairul Anam Shakil spoke about the purpose of the festival.

“The main objective of organizing this festival is to promote classical music. In addition, the festival provides a platform for artists of the younger generation to show off their talent, ”he said.

Chhayanaut General Secretary Laisa Ahmad Lisa said the necessary steps have been taken to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19.

“We have placed some screens at different places in the premises of Chhayanaut Sanskriti Bhaban so that the audience can enjoy the festival without entering the auditorium,” she said.

The festival kicked off Thursday at 4:30 p.m. In addition, a recorded video message from the president of Chhayanaut, Sanjida Khatun, was broadcast at the scene.

After which, Brinda Paribeshana introduced Raga Bhupali while Prashant Bhowmick played the tabla and Tinku Sheel played the harmonium.

Dipro Nishant rendered Raga Kaushik Dhawni while Prashant Bhowmick played the tabla and Abhijit Kundu played the harmonium.

Khairul Anam Shakil performed Raga Shuddha Kalyan while Iftekhar Ahmed Dolar played the tabla and Bijan Chandra Mistri played the harmonium.

Shekhar Mandal presented Raga Rageshree while Badal Chowdhury played the tabla and Bijan Chandra Mistri played the harmonium.

Debashish Sharma rendered Raga Malkosh while Prashant Bhowmick played the tabla and Imon played the harmonium.

The festival had two sessions on Friday. The morning session started at 9:00 am with Brinda Paribeshana introducing Raga Bhairav. He was accompanied by Iftekhar Alam Dollar at the tabla.

Md Alauddin Mia rendered Raga Gunkali while Anjan Sarkar played the tabla.

Afroja Rupa introduced Raga Ahir Bhairav. He was accompanied by Prashant Bhowmick at the tabla.

Bijan Chandra Mistri returned Raga Ramkali while Iftekhar Alam Dollar played the tabla, Tinku Sheel played the harmonium and Shounak Debnath Wreek played the sarengi.

Mrityunjay Kumar Das presented Raga Shuddha Sarang with Iftekhar Alam Dollar on tabla.

The second session started at 4:00 p.m. Asit Dey, Ebadul Haque Shaikat, Saiful Islam, Srabanti Dhar, Tinku Sheel, Bitu Kumar Sheel, Arpita Chakravarty, Ananya Acharya and Minhajul Hassan Imon, among others, performed in the last session.
