The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s many offerings begin with “A Gospel Christmas” (7:30 pm December 9; $ 35 to $ 68). Singer Oleta Adams joins the orchestra and choir in unison for a moving celebration.

“The Muppets Christmas Carol in Concert” (2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on December 11 to 2 p.m. on December 12; $ 38.50 to $ 71.50) features Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the other Muppets in their big-screen adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic. The orchestra performs the score of the film live, under the direction of assistant conductor Stéphanie Childress.
