Kota Kinabalu: Classical music lovers are in for a delightful experience with a rare performance by three famous musicians: Mark Radcliffe from the UK, who plays oboe and has given recitals around the world and was Principal Oboe with the English Touring Opera , on modern and period oboes. , playing operas from Handel to Janacek. Yap Ling is a well-known versatile musician from KK who performs, teaches, conducts and arranges music. He has done Music Camps, given performances and conducted orchestras in Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia, China, Singapore, Penang and Sarawak.

Yap Ling is the conductor and founder of the Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO), Kian Kok Youth Orchestra, Tshung Tsin String Orchestra and Kota Marudu Skycommunity String Orchestra. The third musician of the Trio is Grace Lee, wife of Yap Ling and pianist accompanying both the oboe and the violin. In addition to being a member of the L’expressivo trio (voice-violin-piano) and the Jesselton trio, Grace is the pianist of the Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert, titled “Ring of Music,” will take place on September 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Kian Kok School Hall.

The program includes a wide variety of musical pieces ranging from Gabriel’s Oboe, Bach’s Oboe and Violin Concerto to traditional Shanbei folk song and Spanish dance. The concert is organized by SPArKS Society for Performing Arts KK Sabah whose aim is to bring the world of music, dance and theater to KK as well as to support and encourage our young artists in Sabah to excel in the performing arts.
