Country music singer Ashley McBryde discusses Miranda Lambert rivalry – exclusive

Ashley McBryde has already had an incredible start to the year. Not only did she win a ACM Award, but she is also nominated for the next CMT Music Awards and go on tour.

The country music singer spoke exclusively to HELLO! WE to make history with Carly Pearce, Miranda Lambertand Elle King — for the first time ever, two all-female collabs hit the Top 10 on country radio — her healthy competition with Miranda and teased some new music her fans will love!

Your collaboration with Carly Pearce, I never wanted to be that girlmade country radio history alongside Miranda Lambert and Elle King, how did you react to that?

“I saw it and sent a screenshot to Elle [King]. Sure, we girls are all friends, but I had just seen Elle recently and I said, “You know, making country music history like we do, because it’s a weekday. , and that’s what we women do on weekdays.”

“I think it’s really, really cool and something we should be celebrating – we don’t have to throw a party or have a parade or anything., but me and Carly and Miranda and Elle should really make sure we pat each other on the back or send each other flowers. Something to commemorate that it’s never been done before.”

Do you feel supported by other women in country music?

“There was a chance when I appeared on the scene that when we interacted with each other we were mean and very competitive, but we’re not mean and I was so excited to find out – even people too different than Carly and I, we really support each other.

“I was chatting with Miranda [Lambert] once and we had just been in a category against each other, I think it was A singer, and U.S [collaborated on] I was wrong and I fell in love with Caylee Hammack, Maren Morris and Elle King.

“She chose these powerful voices to be part of this [song] with her and we talked about it and she said: ‘I love that you girls challenge me, I love that we push ourselves to be better”.

“So that’s pretty cool, yeah, we’re definitely competitive, but it’s one of the healthiest competitions I’ve ever been in because we challenge each other and then we immediately present the for each other and we encourage each other.

“I think that’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve never experienced it in any other area of ​​my life other than this profession, being in country music.”

You’re going on tour in the UK in May, are you excited to play for your UK fans?

“Heck yes! It was good to come back for C2C, but it was such a short trip. Like when we got there, it felt like we were already leaving but that’s okay because we’re coming back in May.”

Do you see a big difference between your UK fans and your US fans?

“The fans in the US are great, but that has nothing to do with playing in the UK – there’s nothing else like it. I haven’t spoken to anyone who doesn’t don’t like to play [in the UK]. You are not prepared for it, even if you say to yourself: “They are the best fans”.

Are you working on new music?

“We came in at the start of February to record our third record and on February 8 when we left it was all recorded. I love being in that part of the process because it’s one of my favorite times where we can get together. sit and brainstorm with each other.

“But we have a few songs from the third album that we’ll be touring while we’re [in the UK].”

Ashley’s latest album Never Will (Warner Music Nashville) is out now. Their UK tour will kick off on Sunday May 1 and run through Tuesday May 10 with stops in Glasgow, London, Leeds, Manchester, Brighton and Bristol. Tickets are available from now.
