Announced country music performer Jimmie Allen has been booked for the opening day of the New York State Fair.

When Allen performed at the fair in 2019, he was hailed as a rising star.

Now, the fair said in a press release, “currently nominated for the GRAMMY Awards for Best New Artist and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist after being named New Male Artist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music and New by the Country Music Association. Entertainer of the Year in 2021, Jimmie Allen’s star has clearly risen and shows no signs of slowing down.”

Allen is scheduled to perform on the Chevy Court stage at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, as part of the extensive Chevrolet Musical Series.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring Jimmie Allen back to the Fair,” said Fair Manager Troy Waffner. “His first show here was great and this show will be unforgettable for country fans everywhere. I can’t think of a better way to kick off The Fair 2022 and our diverse lineup of great shows.

• Nelly, 8 p.m. August 31, Chevy Park stage

• 24KGoldn, 8:00 p.m. September 2, Chevy Park Stage

• Night Ranger, 1 p.m. September 5, Chevy Park Stage
