Amsterdam Conservatory | Deputy Director / Head of Classical Music (1fte)
Netherlands, North Holland, Amsterdam
€5,670—€7,250 per month

The Conservatorium van Amsterdam is immediately looking for a Deputy Director / Head of Classical Music (1fte) (f/m/x). Someone with great enthusiasm for music and education who wants to help our organization become more professional based on vision, knowledge and decision.

About our organization
The Conservatory of Amsterdam (CvA) trains musicians for the national and international field. Our institution is part of the Amsterdam School of Arts. We offer associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in all genres, teacher training and national training for young talent. As a result, the CvA reflects the entire current musical landscape. We play an active role in shaping national and international musical life. With twelve hundred students, excellent teachers and a modern building in the heart of Amsterdam, we are able to train the upper segment of the national and international professional field. With CvA-Online, we have been offering a digital learning platform since 2014 and recently part of our study program can be followed from home via AEMA Hybrid and a state-of-the-art learning management system.

Two departments in particular are important for this vacancy. The Classical department offers high-level training and perfectly prepares musicians for all facets of international professional practice. And the Music Teacher Education department, which offers high-level training as a teacher in education and as a professional performer of extracurricular music education.

Students are not only challenged to bring out the best in themselves, but also to look beyond the boundaries of their field. From early music to contemporary music, from the soloist to orchestral and chamber music, the training covers all periods of style and all genres. In our view, an excellent education requires a culture of passion and involvement, diversity and openness, based on cooperation and trust. And strengthening this culture is an important task for the new deputy director.
