Festival director Mark Duckworth said Groundwater has a long history as a launching pad for country artists.
“We had such a pool of talent involved in last year’s inaugural KIX-Start competition and I for one can’t wait to see what amazing artists will show up this year,” he said.
“It’s an initiative close to my heart and something that characterizes the Groundwater Country Music Festival – providing a platform for new talent.”
Coinciding with the launch of this year’s competition, last year’s inaugural KIX-Start winner Bella MacKenzie released her new single today, 1,2,3 You and me. The single is the proceeds of part of his 2021 award and was co-written with Bryce Sainty, and produced by multiple Golden Guitar winner Rod McCormack.
