HunterGirl cements her place in country music with Miranda Lambert’s heartbreaking cover on “American Idol”

ABC american idol returned Monday evening (April 18) with the results of the American vote and huntress earned a spot in the Top 10.

Donning a black leather fringed jacket over a sparkly brown dress, Huntergirl celebrated the happy news with a performance of Miranda Lambert’s “Vice.” Released in 2016, “Vice” was Lambert’s first single The weight of these wings album and was her first new release after her highly publicized divorce.

“Another vice, another call / Another bed I shouldn’t crawl out of / At 7 a.m. with shoes in my hand / Said I wouldn’t, but I did it again / And I know I’ll be back tomorrow night,” she sang alongside a live band and visually stunning production.

Huntergirl was a standout contestant throughout the 20th season of american idol. After auditioning with a cover of “Riot” by Rascal Flatts, Huntergirl was deemed a “new era Miranda Lambert” by Luke Bryan.

The judges praised his songwriting skills, and Bryan even told him he felt like he was listening to “country radio daddy.”

Throughout the season, Huntergirl has openly talked about working with music therapy veterans. She shared how she helps them overcome PTSD through music and songwriting.

“Songwriting is a big part of my life,” the Tennessee native and Middle Tennessee State University alumna shared and vowed to dedicate her life to singing songs for people who need to hear them.
