Kāpiti Coast, Wellington, New Zealand, October 27, 2022: Jody Direen, winner of the Aotearoa Music Awards for Best Country Music Artist, is set to hit the Tuatara Stage at this year’s Kāpiti Food Fair on Saturday, December 3, and she can’t wait to meet the Kāpiti community.

“We were thrilled to have Jody on board for the fair,” said Kāpiti Food Fair co-owner Helene Judge. “Jody has been a vibrant part of Australasia’s country music scene since 2015. She has toured New Zealand and Australia, performed with country artists like Tim McGraw and supported Kenny Rogers, LeAnne Rimes and Scott McCreery on their New Zealand tour. We are super happy to have him with us to celebrate the holidays and kick off summer 22!

“Visiting the Kāpiti Coast has been on my bucket list forever,” Jody shared when we reached out to her last year. “I’ve heard of the friendly people, sandy beaches and spectacular scenery – I’m thrilled to finally be on my way. Not only can I visit and experience the heart and soul of the Kāpiti community, but I can also perform at the Kāpiti Food Fair, an iconic family event.

When asked what fans can expect from this year’s performance, Jody shared, “A memorable, upbeat, uplifting, original show. I write my own songs, I collaborate with other songwriters and I’ve also recorded other songwriters’ songs, so we’ll have some covers in the mix as well.

If you haven’t booked your tickets yet, now is the time to do so — adult tickets are just $10 if you buy now through October 31. From November 1, the price increases to $15 per adult ticket. Tickets can be purchased through Kāpiti Food Fair’s online ticketing platform, Humanitix.

“Humanitix is a registered charity for the tech generation and their event platform allows them to raise funds to make an impact,” said Jeanine van Kradenburg, co-owner of the fair. “Your booking fee covers their costs, and everything else goes to their educational projects that help change lives. Kāpiti Food Fair has chosen to support ‘A Better Start for Disadvantaged Maori and Pasifika Students’ – Humanitix booking fee are included in the price of our tickets, so the good thing is that there is nothing extra to pay at the cash desk.

“We can’t stress enough our desire for visitors to skip the long lines at the box office and buy tickets before the big day,” Hélène added. “We decided in 2021 that we needed to bring our ticketing online to collect visitor information and improve ticket marketing so that we could be professional and sustainable as a major long-term event. The 2021 fair was canceled due to Covid so we are now faced with the delivery of 2022, we are so excited after a two year absence but also nervous about the ‘surprise factor’ for visitors arriving on the day without ticket.

“Having your ticket in advance will just mean scanning your ticket at the entrance gate and getting into the fair quickly,” added Jeanine. “If you choose to buy your tickets on the day you can still, but we cannot guarantee how long this will take as it depends on the queues at the ticket office. Each reservation will require a buyer name, a email, phone, suburb and postcode to complete your purchase, so having tickets by December 3rd is the best bet for sure!

The Kāpiti Food Fair will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Mazengarb Reserve in Paraparaumu on the Kāpiti Coast with doors open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Get your early bird tickets online now while they are priced at $10 per adult, children up to 16 are FREE and those with a Gold card or student card are only $5.
