The Los Angeles-based International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) announced the nominees for the 2022 award.

The awards are divided into 15 categories, ranging from early music before 1600 to contemporary music. Seven special prizes are awarded, including a Lifetime Achievement and Artist of the Year.

To be considered for a place on the shortlist, a recording must be nominated by at least two members of the jury. Of the 129 nominated labels, Alpha BIS and Naxos received the most nominations.

Notable nominations include Frank Peter Zimmermann for his recordings of Beethoven, Berg and Bartok concertos, and Vadim Gluzman for his recordings of Beethoven and Schnittke concertos.

The winners will be announced in January, before the awards ceremony in Luxembourg in April 2022. The full list is available here.
